State works to take license from Illinois nursing home

Posted on Friday, June 18th, 2010 at 11:14 am

Authorities in Illinois have started a process to revoke the license of a Chicago-area nursing home. This initiative comes after the nursing home received multiple citations of nursing home neglect.

Some of these citations include: failing to notify a doctor when a 90-year-old resident’s health worsened and failure to notify a doctor when a patients lab results were abnormal resulting in her death.

The home was also cited for not preventing maggots from a man’s wound on his scalp. The nursing home was added to a federal list of troubled nursing homes that need improvement in their quality of care. The nursing home can voluntarily surrender their license or contest the revocation.
