The Governor of Kentucky has created a task force that will review nursing home abuse cases in the state.
One of the first steps of the task force will be a look into how the government handles reports of nursing home abuse and neglect. A previous report was sent to the local newspaper and stated that there were 107 Class A citations claiming that a resident was in harm of becoming injured or worse.
Seven of the cases were prosecuted at the state level. Eight of them were under review from the prosecutor or attorney general, but the average pending time for a case was 19 months.

New details have emerged in the case of the veterans care facility in Big Spring, Texas where some elderly patients have reported abuse at the hands of facility workers. According to details reported by the Dallas Morning News, patients at the state-owned veterans homes were subjected to physical abuse, including choking, rough placement on beds, and excessive physical restraint.

Two nursing home assistants in Bristol, Virginia have been accused of concealing complaints of abuse on the part of nursing home staff. The individuals have been accused of failing to investigate sexual assault claims from 12 patients from 2008-2009. Among the charges the employees may face are failure to pass along information, attempts to conceal abuse, and failure to investigate abuse claims.

Three nurses aides who worked in Madison County, Kentucky have been charged with gross negligence in relation to their treatment of an 84-year-old nursing home resident.
